Rye Allotments

There are two allotment sites in Rye, situated at South Undercliff and Love Lane, in total providing around 100 plots for local residents. These are now owned and managed by Rye Town Council, working closely with the Rye Allotment Society.

Love Lane is also home to Rye’s Community Garden

    Information for those keeping chickens or rabbits on their allotment

    The Allotments Act 1950 allows plot holders to keep chickens and rabbits on their allotment.

    Plot holders wishing to keep chickens or rabbits should pay special attention to part 9, appendix 4 and appendix 6 of the allotment rules. They must contact us to complete an emergency contact form prior to bringing animals on to the site.

    Avian Influenza:

    As from 1 October 2024, DEFRA registration is a legal requirement for bird keepers in Great Britain. Plot holders can register their birds by email or by downloading the form from the gov.uk website.
