Following the vacancy created by the sad death of Cllr Jo Kirkham, sufficient requests for a by-election have been received by Rother District Council. They have now issued a Notice of Election.

Once elected or co-opted, legally, councillors are required to attend Council meetings (apologies for absence can be accepted) only. Allowing for extra ones there are around 12 a year. Otherwise, councillor can do as much (or little) as they like. Those on the Planning Committee usually meet fortnightly (except in August).

To stand for election
Anyone wishing to stand for election is advised to Contact the Electoral Services Manager at Rother District Council for Nomination Papers and further information about the election process – elections@rother.gov.uk.
The deadline for Nomination Papers to be delivered to the Returning Officer at Rother District Council, Bexhill Town Hall is no later than 4pm on Friday 21 November 2025.
If an election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 18 December 2025.
